You’ve got a few small muscles at the base of your skull called your “suboccipitals”. These muscles are traditionally responsible for very small, very fine movements of your head. However they can become overworked, tense and tender due to factors like poor posture, poor ergonomics at a work station, eye strain (wearing new glasses or needing glasses), and stress. WHAT IS A TENSION HEADACHE? Tightness in these small cervical muscles can also pinch nerves in the back of your neck which can create a painful “headache” sensation. If your headache comes from the tight muscles at the base of your skull, it very well may be a “tension” headache which should respond well to these exercises in this video. HOW TO RELIEVE NECK TENSION AT THE BASE OF YOUR SKULL The best way to promote relaxation and release in these muscles is four simple steps. 1. Heat - apply heat to the area for 15-20 minutes to increase blood flow and promote relaxation. 2. Massage - massage/mobilization is a great way to further decrease tension and promote relaxation in the muscles in this tight area. 3. Stretching - increase pain-free motion and decrease tightness with gentle pain-free stretching. 4. Strengthening - training the right muscles in your neck and in your back can improve your posture and decrease tension. Of course - you’re going to get all of these in this amazing video! I’ll go into detail and give you all the tips and tricks you need to eliminate tightness/tension and feel better fast. 7 Amazing Health Benefits of Aloe Vera | What's Aloe Vera Good For?
7 Amazing Health Benefits of Aloe Vera | What's Aloe Vera Good For? In today's video, we'll talk about aloe vera and its incredible health benefits. Aloe vera, a popular medicinal plant, is known for its antioxidant and antibacterial properties. It has a wide range of health benefits, including: Skin Health: Aloe vera can be applied topically to the skin to help with various skin conditions. For instance, you can apply aloe vera gel directly to the affected area to help reduce acne and skin inflammation. To help with skin injuries, you can apply aloe vera gel to the wound to speed up the healing process. For general skin health, you can incorporate aloe vera into your skincare routine by using products that contain aloe vera, such as moisturizers and face masks. Dental Health: Aloe vera can be used in various ways to improve dental health. You can use aloe vera tooth gel, which is effective in controlling bacteria that cause cavities. It's less harsh on teeth compared to regular toothpaste, making it a good alternative for people with sensitive teeth. Additionally, mouth rinses containing aloe vera can help reduce gingivitis and plaque accumulation. Digestive Health: Aloe vera juice can be consumed to help with digestive issues. It can be used as a tonic for the digestive system to soothe the stomach and relieve intestinal discomfort. It can also help with constipation by increasing the water content in your intestines, stimulating peristalsis, and helping you pass stool normally. Blood Sugar Management: Aloe vera can be consumed in the form of juice or supplements to help manage blood sugar levels. Nutrient-Rich: Aloe vera juice is packed with nutrients. Interestingly, aloe vera is one of the only plant sources of vitamin B-12, making it a valuable resource for vegetarians and vegans Antioxidant Properties: Aloe vera juice is a rich source of antioxidants, which help fight free radicals. This lowers oxidative stress on your body and reduces the risk of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Weight Loss: Oral use of aloe is promoted for weight loss, although more research is needed to confirm this benefit. Aloe vera can be consumed in various ways, depending on your preference and the health benefits you're seeking. It’s generally safe to eat the gel inside the aloe vera leaf, as well as the skin. Wash the skin or gel thoroughly to remove traces of latex, which can have unpleasant and potentially harmful side effects. Did you enjoy learning more about the uses and benefits of aloe vera? Symptoms and Complications of Diabetes
MEDICAL ANIMATION TRANSCRIPT: You or someone you know may have been diagnosed with diabetes. This video will show you what it is and why it's important to keep it under control. People can have different symptoms with diabetes. Common symptoms include feeling very hungry, feeling very thirsty, urinating often, fatigue, blurry vision, and slow healing of wounds. People with type 1 diabetes may also experience weight loss. Symptoms of type 1 diabetes usually develop suddenly. They may make a person feel very ill. On the other hand, symptoms of type 2 diabetes usually develop slowly. They may be mild enough so they are hard to notice. Some people have no symptoms. If your high blood sugar level isn't treated, life-threatening complications can result. For example, you can become severely ill with a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. It's more common in people with type 1 diabetes. Here's how it happens. Because you have little or no insulin in your blood, your cells can't get the sugar they need for energy. As a result, your body turns to fats and proteins for energy. As your body breaks down the fats, certain substances, known as ketone bodies, build up in your blood. This results in a condition called ketosis. If ketones build up to dangerously high levels in your blood, you may develop diabetic ketoacidosis, or DKA. This may result in coma or death. If your blood sugar level drops too low, you may experience a serious complication of diabetes called hypoglycemia. A common way this can happen is by taking too much diabetic medication or not eating. Too much insulin or oral diabetic medication can cause too much sugar to go into your cells. Then your blood sugar level drops down too low. Certain organs, such as the brain, need a constant energy supply to work properly. Because the brain's main source of energy is sugar, it's the first organ affected by lower sugar levels. When your brain cells, called neurons, don't get enough sugar, they start to malfunction. Symptoms such as nervousness, shakiness, and confusion can result. If your blood sugar keeps dropping, your brain does not have enough energy to work properly. This can result in seizures or diabetic coma. If your blood sugar level remains high over time, long-term health problems can occur. They include heart and blood vessel disease, stroke, blindness, nerve damage, kidney disease, and amputation of a foot or leg. If you have questions about diabetes or the medications for it, speak with your doctor. It is important to take your medications as directed by your doctor. Tell him or her about any side effects you have. #BloodSugar #DiabetesSymptoms #DiabetesComplications ANH16176
